Echo at Butlins

Echo is a text message game which is running at all three Butlins holiday centres over the summer.

Children and families playing the game follow the story of Echo the alien, who crash landed at Butlins losing all of the powerpads which make his spacepod work. The children can talk to Echo via text messages as they move around the Butlins site looking for the lost powerpads.

When they find a powerpad they unlock it by texting an answer to a question posed in the story. All the powerpads refer to physical forces and highlight the forces at work at the powerpad locations - such as friction at the waterslides, aerodynamics at the go karts and circular motion at the fairground rides.

Finally, when they have unlocked all the powerpads they are asked to text in their ideas for a brand new powerpad – what it would be called and what it could be used for. We’ve taken some of the best powerpad suggestions and added them to Echo’s text message page. As a reward for completing the game, players are entered into a prize draw to win one of three fantastic holidays at Butlins.
